4 Men Arrested For Battery Of Couple In Front Of Their Child
PANAMA CITY BEACH , Fla. (WJHG) – Four men were arrested for battery in Panama City Beach over the holiday weekend.
Police say they arrested Marcus Jones, Murray Horton, Tyshon Jones, and Tywann Sistrunk over the weekend after they allegedly battered a man and his wife.
According to the arrest report, the four men pushed the victim to the ground and started to kick him in the torso. While the victim was being kicked, police say his wife was punched in the face, breaking her glasses.
Marcus Jones, Murray Horton, Tyshon Jones, and Tywann Sistrunk were all charged with battery and taken to the Bay County Jail.
All four men are from Alabama.
The incident is still under investigation and more charges could be pending.
What started as a family night with fireworks quickly took a turn for the worst.
“They all started undressing but one undressed completely in front of our seven-year-old and all we did was ask him politely to step around to the other side of the vehicle,” said Vikki, a Panama City Beach resident who asked not to reveal her full name. That’s when she and her fiancé Dana said a group of Alabama men assaulted them in front of their daughter on the 4th of July.
“As two of them got him [Dana] behind the golf cart the other aggressor, the largest one out of all of them, was preventing me to get to him,” she said.
The suspects are now identified as Murray Horton, Tywann Sistrunk, Marcus Jones and Tyshon Jones. According to the police report they punched, kicked, and pushed Vikki and Dana.
“I went to call 9-1-1 and the aggressor, the larger one, he hit me in my face knocking me through the air. Our daughter was screaming the entire time not to hurt her daddy,” said Vikki.
Panama City Beach mayor Mark Sheldon said he doesn’t think this case signals a return of the so called “hundred-milers”.
“We wrote a letter to the state attorney back after Memorial Day and we asked him if any crime occurs on Panama City Beach we want it enforced to the fullest extent of the law,” Sheldon expects that to be upheld in this incident, “bad behavior creates bad behavior so we’re going to curb that bad behavior from the beginning.”
Vikki claimed a fifth man fled the scene and was never caught. She’s asking anyone with footage to come forward. “There were crowds of people out here. They did not do anything to step in and help hearing my daughter scream and I know there are people out there that have video of it,” she said.
As of now, those four men are charged with simple battery but we’re told by Police Chief Drew Whitman more charges are pending as the investigation continues.
